Edward J. Hafer has been with Messner & Reeves since 2008.  Ed’s practice focuses on litigation in the areas of employment, trademark, contract, and business torts including breach of fiduciary duty, theft of trade secrets, unfair competition, and intentional interference with business relations.  He has worked on these issues in the context of defending managers and directors of incorporated entities as well as in the context of asserting the rights of affected shareholders, members, and aggrieved businesses.  This work has included seeking and defending injunctions as well as negotiating complex settlements designed around the client’s particular business, professional, and other concerns.  

Ed’s practice has included taking a leading role in coordinating the efforts of five different law firms in efficiently tackling a major, confidential discovery project in addition to extensive motions practice in multiple United States District Courts and Colorado State District Court.  Ed has worked on litigation that has produced a number of important opinions, including PayoutOne v. Coral Mrtg. Bankers, 602 F. Supp. 2d 1219 (D. Colo. 2009); Agrihouse, Inc. v. Agrihouse, LLC, 2009 WL 1033763 (D. Colo. 2009); and U.S. Advisors, LLC v. Berkshire Property Advisors, LLC, 2009 WL 2055206 (D. Colo. 2009).
